Naming Ceremonies for welcoming a new child into the family are becoming very popular with parents and families where a religious Christening or Baptism is no longer considered the right choice.

Also, ceremonies can be conducted to officially introduce siblings from two different parents into the one blended family. Each child can be officially named at the same time if the parents wish.

A Naming Ceremony or Namegiving Ceremony is conducted at any venue of the family's choice and is conducted by a qualified Naming Celebrant. These ceremonies can be as formal or informal as you choose.

As a qualified Naming Celebrant, I can assist you in creating a ceremony which is right for you and your family.

My role is to ensure that your ceremony is conducted professionally and with love so that the event is enjoyed and remembered by all who celebrate it with you on the day.

You can choose a ritual, or simply have poetry, music and readings at your ceremony - the choice is yours. I am here to guide you through the process and I am more than honoured to do so.

There are many ways in which to celebrate the naming of a baby or older siblings in a family.

Release of helium balloons

A very pretty ceremony and fun for the children in attendance

Anything from one to many balloons are released in honour of the child or young person being named. A ribbon can be attached to the balloon containing a written message which is read out aloud as the balloon is released.

Candle ceremonies

In memory of the child’s Naming Ceremony.

Each family member holds a lighted candle while a reading or blessing is performed for the family

Wishing Bowl Ceremony

A ritual that offers the child prosperity in life

This is an opportunity for guests to be part of setting up a savings account for the child’s future. Each participating guest is asked to place a gold coin in a bowl which has been decorated with gold angels, stars, paint etc.

At the end of the ceremony the coins are given to the family members to start a savings account for the child.
